Yes, for health and safety reasons all participants must return by 18:00. A sweeper team will follow to ensure you meet this time limit. You may be asked to retire at the next checkpoint if meeting the time limit is unlikely.

Race numbers and timing chips are NOT posted and can ONLY be collected during registration. You will need to register and collect your number and your timing chip. Registering for other participants is possible as long as you know their name and DOB. The registration marquee will be located on Helen Gardens, adjacent to Bede’s Prep School, Dukes Drive, Eastbourne, BN20 7XL.
Unfortunately not. All registrations must be completed online, in advance.
You can bring your dog along to run with you. You'll start at the same time as all runners however you can choose to start nearer the back if you prefer. It is though the dog owners responsibility to ensure the dog is suitably fit, if unsure, please consult a vet before undertaking the race. The organisers don’t take any responsibility to any injuries to participants or anyone else. Dogs must be on a lead at all times due to the nature of the course.
Drinks stations are available at each checkpoint. Checkpoints are highlighted on the route map.

Yes. Please login to your online account and follow the steps to change category. Please click here - https://passport.active.com *Please note category transfer will close on 1st September 2020 at 13:00 or before if race category reaches capacity. Please note, there is a small administration charge for transferring category.
For health and safety reasons we cannot allow the transfer of registration numbers between participants.
For health and safety reasons we cannot allow early starts. The marathon starts at 09:00 and the 10k at 10:00.

The minimum age for marathon participants is 18
The minimum age for the 10k is 16; however you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian if you are aged 16 or 17.
Yes. We encourage fancy dress costumes of all shapes and sizes. Please ensure the costume is suitable for such run.
Hop on one of Brighton & Hove Buses Coaster service with regular buses between Eastbourne and Brighton to various viewing points around the course including Cuckmere Valley at the Seven Sister Centre and of course, Beachy Head! Bus timetables are available in the Eastbourne Tourist Information Centre.
Organisers recommend participants use facilities at hotel or home before arriving at the event due to limited facilities on site.
Marathon: Start/Finish, Alfriston (pubs/hotels) 9m, Bo-Peep 12m, Litlington 16.7m, Birling Gap 22m.
10k: Start/Finish
We offer a variety of bananas, mars bars, jaffa cakes, soup, jelly babies, sausage rolls, water and juice at each check point. Should you require energy bars, gels or energy drinks it would be advisable to bring your own. Event Sponsor GU Energy are delighted to be supporting the Beachy Head Marathon and will be available on course for the athletes to use to help keep them fuelled. Organisers cannot guarantee the underfoot ground condition of the Marathon & 10k Route. Therefore participants are encouraged to prepare for all conditions including: dry, damp, slippery, soft and muddy. Trail/ off road running shoes are a popular choice for this event.
Parking is available on the seafront leading up to the Start/Finish Line at Bede’s School. We recommend you arrive from 7am to guarantee yourself a space nearer the start/finish line.
Merchandise is available from the Sports Hall/Baggage area. Cash is the preferred method of payment. Alternatively you can purchase merchandise online here.
FAQ’s for 2020 will be updated as soon as the 2019 BHM/10k is complete. The Half-Marathon will take place on the same day as the existing marathon and 10k and will comprise of a slightly different route to the marathon, however will start and finish in the same location. The route will be added to the website shortly.
